About Ed Paulson

Ed is an experienced business manager, successful entrepreneur, best selling author, professor and hands-on practitioner. He speaks financial performance, technology, training, business development and planning fluently.  Check out his evolution to see how he got here. 

Ed grew up in the Chicago area where he had his first taste of entrepreneurship. After being honorably discharge from the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam Era he supported himself through college as a building contractor renovating buildings on the north side of Chicago. 

After graduating from The University of Illinois at Chicago with BSEE and MSE engineering degrees he moved to Silicon Valley where he worked in various sales, marketing, engineering and management roles for startup companies such as GenRad, Seagate Technology, DAVID Systems and Telenova.

Ed moved to Austin, TX from California to pursue his MBA at The University of Texas at Austin and to start his software training and consulting company initially as Applied Concepts and later as Technology and Communications, Inc. His Austin clients included Southwestern Bell, IBM, Motorola, LCRA, and AMP, just to name a few. He sold that company and moved back to Chicago to develop and teach entrepreneurship, business management, risk management, research, and organizational communications courses for DePaul University. During this time he also wrote a over 15 published books through well known companies such as John Wiley and Sons, Alpha, and Que, completed his PhD in technology management (digital communications) from Indiana State University, and continued to run his consulting company.
